Graphic 45: Artisan Style Project Tutorials

Hi LBH friends,
this is Lindsey with a tutorial and projects using the Artisan Style collection from Graphic 45.

Graphic 45 has such a beautiful collection of papers that coordinate so well together.  This card uses the typical Graphic 45 layering style to give it extra interest, color and dimension.  Below you will find a quick tutorial of how to make this cheerful art nouveau styled card, followed by pictures of a dimensional project using the same line of paper.

Graphic 45: Artisan Style Art Nouveau Card

Gather your supplies....

Dictionary Paper
xacto kinife
foam tape
glue of choice

Step 1.  Gather your papers and trim them to a staggered size.  The papers are staggered according to the size of the peacock image.
Approximately (blue) 5 1/2 in x 4 1/4 in
(orange) 4 5/8 in  x 3 1/4 in
 (dictionary paper)4 1/8 in x 2 7/8 in.

Step 2.  Ink the edges using blending tool.

Step 3.  Center the dictionary paper to the orange paper.
Step 4.  Center the peacock image onto the dictionary paper and then to the card itself.

Step 5.  Fussy cut flower image.
Step 6.  Add foam tape to the image and attach.

Step 7.  Add glossy accents to the white portions of the flower and allow to dry.

Doesn't everyone have those random things they have been holding onto for years with the intention to do something with it and well- it just keeps getting pushed back.  Well...  I pulled out this shadow box I picked up from Dollar Tree years ago.  It's about 6 inches by 6 inches with a glass top a small hinges and a magnetic closure and decided today was the day it got some love.

Painted it with some acrylic paint and zoned out on some intense fussy cutting.  I recommend a fresh x-acto blade for this project.  I used the 8x8  "Artisan Style" page from the paper pack.  Lots of foam tape, maybe even tons of foam tape.

On the sides I used " Patterns of the Past" from the 8x8 paper pad.

For the back I used a black and white striped paper from the 6x6 patterns and solids paper pad, as well as a tag from the 8x8 paper pad and a small amount of "This Old House" from the 8x8 paper pad.

Thanks for checking out my projects using the beautiful Graphic 45 papers, I hope it leaves you inspired!

Craft Market Paper Rosette Ribbon Tutorial

Hey there, it's Lindsey here with a quick tutorial using Crate Papers new line,  Craft market to make a fun paper rosette award style embellishment.

Gather your supplies....

White Pen- Sakura Gelly roll
Foam Tape

Step 1.  Using the pink and gold paper, cut approximately 7 stripes out.  I had the "V" pointed down and cut from the right hand, bottom side

Step 2.  Gather the 4 longer pieces, discard the shorter pieces.  Also cut 3/4 in strip of Doodlebug Vellum and add to the pieces.

Step 3.  Dovetail all the pieces, I just eyeballed this with scissors.

Step 4.  Trace the wooden loop and cut out.  Play with the lengths until you like what you see, The longest for mine was 4 inches and the shortest 3 inches.

Step 5.  Write a sentiment on the chalkboard sticker.  I used a Sakura white gelly roll pen in my faux-calligraphy handwriting. TIP:  Don't be afraid to lightly pencil out the sentiment, once the pen has dried its very easy to go back and erase.   I let things over-dry, nothing frustrates me more than smeared pen.  ( As a lefty, I am too familiar with it)

Step 6.  Using glossy accents glue the wood hoop to the paper circle you cut out in step 4.

Step 7.  Add some foam tape behind the chalkboard sticker

Step 8.  Place chalkboard sticker in the center-ish.

Step 9.  Select arrow from the puffy stickers and cut in half.

Step 10.  Trim the excess ribbon off the pink rose and glue using glossy accents or hot glue.  Place the pieces from the arrow on either side.

Step 11.  I added a few more words in my handwriting to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, its a fun little piece to make with all the graduations coming up- it could be added to a card, put a pin on the back and have the grad wear it.... possibilities are endless!

Thanks for stopping by, all the products used are available at the Little Blue House!

Best wishes, Lindsey

Bunny Blog Hop begins TODAY!!!

Are you Ready to HOP??
We have 8 Easter Inspired Project Tutorials to get you Egg-cited for Easter!! Lindsey is here on the LBH Blog sharing the first Tutorial for our Bunny Hop!

"Carrot Vellum Treat Bag"

Gather Materials Needed...

empty toilet paper roll
Echo Park Papers, Happy Easter, Carrots Paper ,Sunny Days Ahead Red/yellow
Sewing Machine  (thread color of your choice)
Green tissue paper
hot glue gun
paper cutter
scissors
adhesive of your choice
pencil
clear tape
eraser
Decorative scissors, scallop
(check the LBH Online Store for items you may need)

Step 1.  Using the yellow paper from Echo Park (Sunny Days Ahead in Red/Yellow) trim to 4 inches by 6 inches.  Followed by the Doodlebug Vellum in Tangerine, trim to 4 inches by 6 inches.

Step 2.  Adhere vellum to paper

Step 3.  Adhere the pieces glued together onto the toilet paper roll.

Step 4.  Draw some leave shapes to use atop of the tube.  Just before you cut them out use an eraser to lighten the lines.  Leave just enough to see where to cut.

Step 5.  Position leaves so that they will fit across the front of the toilet paper roll on a piece of clear tape.  The sticky side should be up.

Step 6.  Cut an approximately 6 in strip of tissue paper from the widest width of the paper ( typically 30 inches)

Step 7.  Use decorative scissors to make a pretty edge to the tissue paper.

Step 8.  Adhere paper leave to tubes.  Feed the folded tissue paper through the center on the tube and apply hot glue at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 position of the circle.  Press tissue paper into the hot glue and add more glue to tack down the excess.

Step 9.  Use your sewing machine to sew the bottom closed with an approximate 1/8 in seam allowance.

Step 10.  Fluff and fuss with tube until its the right shape.  You can leave this open or easily close it up with a treat inside.

Organizing with Style: Tips Day 1

The Little Blue House Organizing with Style Tips

Lindsey here with some Organizational Tips from a good friends studio - I recently went to meet my crafty friend I met via Instagram in Baltimore.  Her studio is so amazing and her organization ideas were too great not to share.  My "studio" is my dining room table and not exactly an organizational dream.  At my house, you'll find a lot of vintage tins and boxes stacked a different way every day- my friend Patti's studio, is a dream.  It's amazing.  I'm a very sentimental person, so my favorite idea she has is using her mothers spice rack to hold spray inks.  What a great way to reuse something that reminds you of a loved one.
Her collection of salt and pepper shakers includes her mothers, vintage and some new.  I love this idea, not only is it a great way to dispense glitter.  It sure looks pretty all together.  You may also notice she has tons of little plastic jars from Ikea to organize brads, flowers, buttons, etc.  They are grouped by color so when you are looking for an embellishment, it makes it way easier to find.
My dear friend Patti is as sweet as they get. Her studio is magnificent.  She permenantely has 4 workstations set up so friends can come and create with her easily. Such a warm, welcoming space filled with beautiful things.  Thanks for checking out her great ideas, and thanks for letting me share them Patti!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi friends, Vicki here to share one of my favorite organizational tips with you today. Stickles is a common glitter glue that everyone loves. You might have several colors like I do of this product...

I saw this somewhere years ago, and knew as soon as I saw it, it was happening in my room.  I think it’s amazing!  Here is how I did mine.  I just picked up a metal tray at the dollar store, and screwed the tray to the underneath of the shelf right above my desk.  Once that was done I glued the little round magnets you can find at the craft or hardware store to the bottom of each of my bottles of stickles. I used a cool temp glue gun.   I added all of them to the tray, and now when I go to use one, there is no waiting for it to reach the tip, or trying to shake it down, because it’s always right there, ready to go.  Of course it doesn’t just have to be Stickles, I have my small bottle of clear wet adhesive , my Glossy Accents and a number of other things done this way also.
Another little tip I thought I’d share, since you can see it in the photo is about my bulletin board in front of my desk.  I have a HUGE bulletin board above my desk under that shelf, which comes in handy for many things. But  I have a few digital image CD’s that I use very often, so instead of always putting them away and having to get them out  again constantly,  I keep them hanging right there.  I find I use everything much more if it’s out and in view.
I hope these two organizational tips help you in your craft space! Thanks for reading and make sure and follow along all week as we share more great tips!! :)

Minature Valentine Shadow Box Frame Tutorial
by Lindsey Banner

Gather up…
Chipboard/cardboard
Foam Tape
x-acto knife
Metal Ruler
Glue stick
Pretty Papers ( 4 coordinating prints)- I used Authentique Crush, Cache, Frilly paper, Symmetry paper, Adorned) and a piece of sheet music
Authentique, Circles and Scallops tags
Handwriting stamp
Archival Ink in Black
Glue Gun
Do dads, buttons and knick knacks (technical terms)
Large Needle
Bakers twine in Red/white
Sequin Heart (from LBH)
Vintage Lace

DISCLAIMER: I made this project twice. Version 2 was made so I could take step by step pictures. It's not exactly the same, but pretty darn close.

For this project I used a cereal box, flattened it out and cut 2 , 5.25” x 6.5" rectangles.
The image I was using is approximately 3" x 4.25", so one piece of cardboard I cut a 3.5" x 4.75" rectangle in the center.
Verison 1: Cover the chipboard with the frame in a pretty paper, I used sheet music. To add more depth I used a blending tool and mixed antique linen and barn door red distress ink onto the front surface.
Version 2: I used Authentique- Crush, Symmetry paper on the polka dot side
Select a background paper to be used behind the image, same size as the chipboard.
Version 1: I used a pink cardstock with a cursive handwriting stamp and colored with the Wink of Stella gold pen. Also glue a pretty paper to the back of this piece ( Authentique, Crush-Frilly Paper.
Version 2: I used Authentique, Crush- Adorned.

Line foam tape along the edges of covered, frame chipboard piece. I stacked mine 3 times for extra dimension. Carefully line up the two chipboard pieces and attach together.
Add one layer of foam tape behind the image you will be using and float it in the middle of your frame.
Select your phrase, I added more foam tape behind each alpha and applied to the surface of the image from the Authentique, Cache Paper.
Version 1: Authentique Crush Petite Black Letter Stickers
Version 2: Authentique Petite Diction
Select a die cut from the Circles and Scallops tags and use hot glue to attach Melissa Frances white ruffle ribbon
Add some lace behind the sequin heart, thankfully its sticky so this is an easy step. Make small folds while applying to create pleats. Add a few dots of glossy accents to make sure it really sticks.

Verison 1: Measure the sides of your frame, mine was ¼ in, cut ¼ in strips of paper to cover the edges. Apply hot glue and attach paper strips to edges.
Version 2: Add washi tape to cover the edges.
Select the spot for your key and gently detach foam tape and use twine and needle to attach the key into place. Gather buttons, rhinestones, etc and lay out the pieces until you are pleased with it. I used bakers twine to thread the buttons for added interest. Use hot glue and glossy accents to apply the pieces to the surface.
Now step back and admire your creation. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
