I AM....Creative! : Miss T's Projects

Hello Friends!
Have you seen this fabulous collection from Simple Stories?? It's simply called...I AM...two small but powerful words!

Check out this video...it's an awesome clip to explain the concept behind this collection...

I have completely fallen for this collection...I AM in love with it!!! I knew right away that I wanted to create several projects and today I'm sharing a couple of them with you.

Here's a look at a Layout I designed from the I AM  collection. I will actually be putting my photos on it...that's right ...ME! Most of us who scrapbook are always preserving memories of our family, friends, events, etc. but are usually  the person BEHIND the camera. I encourage you to document the Picture Taker...YOU...It's important to tell your story and the I AM collection helps you do just that...

I AM...
Designed by: Tracy Pounds

It is available to create in any of the LBH Buffets or to take as a Kit. It can be customized with a variety of different attributes to perfectly describe whoever you are featuring on the layout...all provided in the kit.

Here is a closer look at all the delightful details...
I love the pretty Gold metallic accents on some of the papers and embellishments...

Beautiful fonts too....I love lines that mix fonts!

I love all the descriptive words and the beautiful colors...It's such a unique collection!

I AM also a Believer and will be adding a lot of the I AM embellies and papers in some of my future Bible Journaling Entries...I think it will be a perfect addition!

In fact, I was so inspired by the papers...that I designed a NEW Tag Set for our Words for ALL Seasons Blocks & Base... "Walk by Faith". It features the bonus block which I designed to be a Magnetic Scripture Block.

There is a metal piece hidden under the pretty paper...and I made little pebble magnets to attach my printed scripture onto the block. I can now print scriptures in pretty fonts and change them out whenever I wish.

This NEW tag set is NOW available at the Little Blue House to create in any buffet or take home as a kit

I AM so excited to see the creations that YOU will make from this wonderful paper collection. I encourage you to share them on the LBH facebook page....HERE

Thank you for reading...and remember...
Stay true to your passion--Keep Creating!
Miss Tracy :)

P.S. Complete this sentence....I AM_____________

I am Layout using Simple Stories

Hello Everyone!
Vicki here to share a layout I created using the Simple Stories I am Collection.

My background pieces are from the I AM Collection Kit. I'll share with you in the steps below how I put my layout together. For me this is a pretty big achievement because doing layouts of myself has never been something I've been very comfortable with.  But I know it's important. I think as scrapbookers we often end up documenting life around us. The kids, events, ect... But "we" are a part of all that. Usually "behind" the camera. Which honestly is where I prefer to be lol I had to stop and think of it differently. How sad would I be if I looked thru photo albums and there were no photos of my grandma and great grandma. We are a very important part of it all ... so take time to document YOU.

I started by adding some sort of semi dry brush swipes of acrylic paint behind where I will place my papers and photo.

Then I added a little stamping. Just enough so it would show around the edge of the matted paper.

Adding the background paper and photo was easy, then I decided to use one of these American Crafts straws as kind of a topper or bar above my photo. I put ties at both ends, and at this end I cut out one of the feathers from one of the Elements Sheets in the Collection kit and attached it to the string. I added a foam square to the back to give it lift off the page.

This pocket with tags from the Interactive Elements was one of the pieces I had decided from the beginning, would be a focal point on my page. What a fun way to add some journaling. I used the Expression Stickers on some of the tags and hand wrote journaling on others, using both the fronts and backs of the tags. Just a few of mine were I AM.. Simply Me, Compassionate, Choosing Happiness, Believer in God, Right were I want to be, a creative spirit, a believer that music soothes the soul, committed to my family, Lover of Animals.

Then comes my favorite part. Going back and adding details. I used the Gold Photo Stickers a number of different places on my layout. LOVED them! And a long the side of my photo you can see I used one of the photo overlays. Instead of using it over my photo I just used the part I wanted along the side of the photo, since it would easily show up on the background paper.

I hope this encourages you to create a "I AM" layout of our own.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a GREAT day!

Vicki

I AM...Simply Me!

Well, it's me Susan here!  Today I AM sharing a fun little project I did with the new I AM line of papers and embellishments from Simple Stories.  This collection has ME (and YOU) written all over it and I fell in love with it when I spied it at CHA in January.

I love how I was able to create the cover of my book with the gold letters I cut out from one of the papers.  I then added the "simply me" little flag banner.  That phrase has always stuck with me.  I'm not a complicated person, nor a "deep thinker", so when I saw that little snippet in my collection, I knew I had to use it on the cover!  (Now, that's not to say I'm a ding dong either...but there are times!  LOL!)  There are several encouraging pieces you could use to describe yourself others within the collection, so that you can give a personalized touch to whatever project you are using it for (bible journaling, anyone?).

I used the little flaps to hand-write words that describe my roles on one and my traits and qualities on the other.  That was fun to come up with!

Here's a closer look at how I put my book together...Yes, I took it "old-school" and created a super fast lunchbag minibook.  Most of the ones I've made in the past were a lot more pages than this one, but I wanted to keep it sweet and simple as that IS the theme of my book!

I only used two lunchbags, facing opposite directions.  I folded them together in half and then stapled the ends three times.  Then I turned each book page open and made a fold on the inside to help flatten it out and to "train" the pages to open like a book.  Now it was ready to decorate--the fun part!

Paper bag books are so fun with the little hidden side pockets that you can put "pull-out" pages and tags in!

It's been forever since I made one and now I remember why I loved them so much...just me, keepin' it simple!

One of the things I love about this collection is the fact that it incorporates a lot of black as an accent color and that makes me happy as it just makes everything pop!

So when it came time to start my book's cover, I knew I wanted to bring out that theme.  Here's what I did to create the muslin heart on the front:

I chose a coordinating acrylic paint, diluted it with a little water on my brush and painted just the front of my heart.  I then let that dry and helped it along with a little shot from my heat tool.

Then I grabbed my SO STRIPEY stamp set from Reverse Confetti and used the large single stripe stamp and some Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe Pigment Ink (dye based ink would not be permanent and may fade) to create the black stripes on the heart.  I then heat set it once more.

I set it aside until I was ready to adhere it.  (I also used this technique on the little aqua triangle pocket on one of the inside pages.)  Here's a closer look at the cover which I also added some clear stickers, a clear overlay and more papers from the I AM collection from Simple Stories.

Ok, friends, I hope this has inspired you to be simply YOU and create using the new I AM collection from Simple Stories.  It's available at The Little Blue House and online now HERE
