The Little Blue House 12 Days of Ornaments: Day #4

It's Day 4 of our 12 Days of Ornaments... Are you starting to get in the Holiday Spirit!?! Kristyn here...and I have a holly-jolly, fun  Handmade Ornament Tutorial to share with you today!

 Doilie Framed Ornament
by Kristyn McElroy
This ornament is made using an Ikea Candle Dish. I actually used these in my wedding and  we use them for merchandising at the LBH. Love the shape and thought it would make a great  surface for an ornament! This Doilie Framed Ornament is
Super Easy and Kid Friendly. Read along to get the Full Step-Step Tutorial on how to create this Ornament!

Let's get Started- Here are the  supplies I used...
-White Ikea Candle Dish ($1.99 at the LBH )
-Echo Park Home for the Holidays Element Stickers ($2.99)
-BoBunny Dots & Chevron Wild Berry Cherry Paper
-Black Cardstock
-Pop Dots, Tape Runner, Scissors, Paper Trimmer, Pen
-Ribbon of your Choice

So first, trace your inner circle of the dish. I just free handed this part to save time, but you can measure it accordingly and cut out in any cutting machine, like Silhouette Cameo or Circut.
Then I applied my basic tape runner to the back of the paper and applied it into the dish.

Now for the fun part... I decided to use this sticker sheet from Echo Park's Home for the Holidays Collection because it had SO many great Christmas elements. In this step, you will simply pick and choose your stickers and where you want to place them. If needed use Pop Dots to balance out your stickers.
I also cut black cardstock for a photo mat to help guide where I place my stickers.

Now its time to add the ribbon loop at the top of the dish, this ribbon will be used as a hanger for your ornament. It was really easy to loop the ribbon through the openings of the dish and then tie a knot at the top.

To make your stickers stand out a little bit more you can use black cardstock as a background mat and add touches of ribbon.

Now you should have a complete Doilie Framed Ornament.
Just add a cute picture and you are ready to hang your ornament on your tree!

Since this ornament was super quick and easy, I thought I would share with you another easier project... I had all these stickers leftover after I made my 2 ornaments, so I used them to embellish these mini kraft bags! They are the perfect size for a little treat or a gift card. I added a few stickers to each bag and in no time I had them done!
I hope you join me in  making something Handmade this Holiday Season! If you are interested in making this ornament... the LBH is the one stop shop for all the supplies you need!

  12. Kristyn, I love this. It sooo reminds me of my Me Maw who made dollies and taught me how to crochet. I really want to win this one!

My favorite homemade gift was from my husband. He actually surprised me and made a two page layout in my scrapbook of us. Of course, he had help from the great Cara Britton, but he bought the supplies and made it. I will cherish it forever.
