Love Bug Feature: Layout "Creating Interest"

Hello everyone!
Vicki here today to share a new love themed layout with you that I created using the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge Collection  . I was excited to create a layout of our son and daughter in law using this beautiful line for my first LBH project.

  Supplies you will need:

12x12 cardstock: black and pink
Letter stamps and ink
Large scalloped scissors
Sewing machine
General scrapping supplies: scissors, trimmer, adhesive, pencil.

I'm a lover of details on a layout. Fun things to make your eye want to wonder around the page. So  today I'm sharing just a few ways I did that on this layout.    First of all I loved being able to highlight their hands with a photo inside this chipboard  photo holder from the sticker pack.

I can hardly stand not to machine stitch on my projects.  I think it's fun and adds so much texture and interest.  Cutting out these hearts to layer and stitch on for part of my background , I thought would be a great start for a "love" themed layout.

In the photo above you can see my adhesive laying out.  I am a big fan of using a temporary (non permanent) adhesive to set up my layouts before I put things down permanently.  I love having the option of being able to  adjust things to see how I like it before I totally commit. When layering a lot, using just a little bit of the temporary adhesive to hold things in place while you decide makes a huge different.  When I am stitching, I don't want to get my machines needle getting  all gummed up with adhesive, so I usually just put enough temporary adhesive in the center of the piece that I'm going to stitch around, just to hold it in place while I'm stitching.

Below you can see the hearts once they are stitched into place.  I derided to  add my journaling  to the top in strips, that I also stitched down.

I am also a huge fan of contrast. Adding something as simple as a scallop border of that beautiful bright, yellow/gold on top of that black  really makes it stand out.   Knowing the eye will be drawn over there, makes the perfect place to add a meaningful stamped word.

Before I'm ever finished with a layout I enjoy going back and seeing if there are other areas on the layout that a little accent might  just finish off.  In this case, it was the tiny hear added to the upper left had corner of the photo.   ahhhhh.... now it feels complete. :)

I love hearing little tips and tricks other crafters use as they create. I hope you enjoyed some of mine. All these beautiful papers and embellishments are available to purchase at the Little Blue House and in the online store at www.thelittlebluehouseonline.com.  Thanks so much for letting me share.
